She was born April 8, 1937 in Detroit Michigan to Grace Eleanor Luke of Detroit and Hans Kopf of
Grasberg Germany. She was the beloved widow of Col (ret.) Stanely A. Bohinc, married March 1, 1957.
After meeting during college (University of Michigan), they married and then received their first Air Force assignment to Eglin AF Base near Ft Walton Beach FL where their only child, Deborah Lynn was later born.
Darlene was a supportive military wife and committed to her family. Their changing assignments took them to many destinations in the United States and overseas – to include FL, CO, TX, OH and CA as well as Peshawar Pakistan, India & Turkey.
With each move she pursued her commitment to serve the Lord and her passion for music – either being church organist, dedicated choir member, or soloist. Her love for music started early (age 5) when her
father, Hans, purchased a piano (still in her home today) –and she discovered her gift to play
music by ear.
She loved to learn and improve her God given talent, practicing hours at a time at church and home.
She loved to share her passion of music at every church service, wedding or funeral she played Throughout her life, she also believed her ministry was to make all she met feel special and valuable – whether in her assorted careers as a realtor, interior designer, teacher or serving as a Stephen Minister and her years of visits with her therapy dog, Gracie (a golden retriever).
Her faith in the Lord was infectious and something to aspire to – her favorite Bible verse being Psalm 46:11 “Be still, and know that I am God”.
Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved older brother, Robert (Bob) Kopf. She will be greatly
missed and will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends; daughter and son-in-law: Debbie
and Steve Heck; as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and
countless friends from over the years: Barb Kopf and family, Eileen & Herm Bohinc and family, Jean
& Larry Stark and family.
Darlene will be buried Monday, August 19 2024, at 10:30 AM. At Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery beside her late husband, Stan, following a small, private service.
