David Michael Coyle passed from this earth on October 3, 2026 at the age of 83. David was born in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1943 to parents Frank and Ruth Coyle. In 1965, David graduated from Boston College with a degree in business.
In 1967, David married Evangeline (better known to her friends as Leni), and the marriage produced two sons: John in 1968; and James (Jim) in 1969. Around 1973, the young family moved to the Dallas, Texas area when David accepted a job with a new employer. David spent most of his professional life as a retail sales manager and leader. He worked as a district and regional manager for several retailers, including Casual Corner and Petite Sophisticate.
David was a loving husband, a good dad, and a loyal friend. He enjoyed coaching his sons in little league sports, even if his boys never quite developed into the top-tier athletes David might have envisioned. Nonetheless, he taught them how to body surf in the waves during vacations to the beach, and earned himself one of his family nicknames: Big Wave Dave. He loved the road trips he took with Jim Bean and all the beach days he shared with John Coughlin (aka Cove Boy) and their friends. David loved watching college and NFL football every season, and was the biggest Doug Flutie fan in the state of Texas! David oversaw a weekly friends and family competition to pick the winning teams for each week of the NFL season, earning himself another nickname: The Commissioner.
David lost his wife of 58 years in July 2026 when Leni passed away. David is survived by his sons, their wives Amanda and Tamara, and grandchildren Katherine, Laura, Philip, and Caroline. And countless extended family members, friends, and neighbors. A funeral mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, Texas 76016 is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on October 24, 2026. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at svdpcc.org/donate.
