

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington.
Honorary pallbearers: Joe Coleman, Roger Goolsby, Jack Hunter, John Kimbrell, Todd Krinn, Don Morris, Wayne Morrow, Henry Reznicek, Mike Talbot, Bob Wehr and Bob Wolff.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Davis was born July 16, 1919, in Van Alstyne to Pearl Hood Miller and Claude Earle Miller. He was the second of four children. After graduating from Van Alstyne High School in 1937, he worked on the construction of Fort Wolters, near Mineral Wells. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps on May 12, 1941, and participated in action at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian in the South Pacific theater. Davis was an expert marksman with a rifle and pistol and specialized as a telephone man. After the war ended, Davis served an additional two years in the Marine Corps reserve while working at General Telephone and attending UTA, then NTAC. Davis transferred to Texas Tech in 1948 where he earned a degree in electrical engineering and also met the love of his life and married in 1950. After graduating from Texas Tech, Davis worked at General Telephone, Texas Electric Service Co., Elevator Service Co., General Elevators, Esco Elevators, Weston Elevators and the General Services Administration. Davis retired from GSA in 1983, but continued to work following disasters for FEMA until the late 1990s. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and all sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors: Those left to cherish memories of Davis are his beloved wife of 61 years, Mildred; daughter, Karen Morris of Arlington; grandson, Kelly Morris, his wife, Gina, and their daughter, Jessica, of Warrensburg, Mo.; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and a multitude of loving friends.
