Della was born and grew up in Fort Worth, TX where she met and married Joe in 1953 at the age of 17. Joe’s naval and work career moved them from Texas to Hawaii (via the USS Nereus submarine), back to Texas and then California. They eventually settled with their young family in El Lago, TX in 1965. After completing her nursing studies in the late sixties, she worked for over 20 years at Humana Hospital, primarily as a recovery room nurse. Shortly after her retirement from nursing, Della and Joe moved in 1994 to their forever home in the April Sound community (Montgomery, TX).

Della lived a full life and had many interests. Her greatest love were the family gatherings, where she cooked and served the best comfort food in the world. For several years she created Christmas feasts with themes from other countries. Joe and Della traveled all over Europe, as well as trips to the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, Tahiti, Greece, Hawaii, Panama, Bora Bora, Canada, Turkey, Egypt and many other countries and places within the United States.

Della was proud to be a third generation Texan. She was an avid reader, loved working puzzles and watching old classic movies and mysteries. Over the years she was involved in couples dinner groups, needle pointing, bridge groups, April Sound Ladies Association, Lake Conroe Area Republican Women and volunteered for the Assistance League of Lake Conroe.

Della was deeply loved by her family and will be missed. She will be interred with her parents Lloyd and Irene at the family plot in Arlington, Texas.
