

Donald E. Spiller, 74, passed away August 24, 2012 in Arlington, Texas after an arduous struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born September 21, 1937, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of the late Harold and Lois Spiller.
Mr. Spiller graduated from high school in Oklahoma City, after which he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He then attended the Harvard Business School, where he earned his MBA degree. After graduation from the Business School, he joined the IBM Corporation where he enjoyed a long and successful career is sales and marketing management, international operations, and product development. He retired from IBM in 1995, after which he enjoyed teaching computer applications in the Continuing Education Department at Tarrant County College.
While with IBM, Don and his wife Ann had the opportunity to spend three years on assignment in Tokyo, Japan. That assignment whetted their appetite for travel and they traveled extensively during the last thirty years. In Fact they have visited all 50 states, and more than 60 foreign countries. Don also enjoyed flying, in fact, in his younger years, one of his favorite activities was planning and making long cross-country trips in a small plane. He also enjoyed reading, stamp collecting, political commentary and professional sports.
Don is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 37 years; a brother, Philip, of Lindsay, Oklahoma; 3 children: Barrett Spiller, of the St. Louis area, Stacey Lampton, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Claudia Reed, also from the St. Louis Area; ten grandchildren; a stepson, Paul Posner, of Keller, Texas, and two step-granddaughters.
