Doris Mary Wood

Doris Mary Wood, 85, of Arlington died July 11, 2013 peacefully in her home surrounded by a loving family after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in London, England on June 7, 1928 and worked as a nurse and secretary before marrying Ross Wood on March 4, 1951. She was a proud homemaker and enjoyed entertaining, cooking, travel, bridge and family get-togethers. She was a member of the PEO and Trinity United Methodist Church.

Doris is survived by her children Dennis Wood and Sarah Block of Arlington, Texas, Steve Wood of New Braunfels, Texas and Bill Wood of Dayton, Ohio. Doris had 7 grandchildren, Chris and Daniel Wood, sons of Bill from Dayton, OH, Ross Wood, son of Dennis from Arlington, TX, Chandler and Ian Block, sons of Sarah and Bill Block of Arlington, TX and William and Kevin of Mansfield, TX, sons of Steve Wood. Doris was a great grandmother to Madison Ann Wood, daughter of Chris and Lauren Wood in Dayton, OH. Doris is survived by her brother, Stanley and sister, Gladys, both of London, England. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ross Wood.

A visitation is scheduled at Moore Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17th from 6-8 pm.

The funeral will be held at 10 am, July 18th at First United Methodist Church, Arlington, with graveside services to be held immediately following at Moore Funeral Home on North Davis Dr. in Arlington, Texas. Donations in her memory can be made to Mission Arlington.
