

On the morning of August 30, 2016, Earl passed away peacefully at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth holding hands with his loving wife Pat and surrounded by family. He was 75 years old.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Bridgewood Church of Christ in Fort Worth and Visitation is Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. He will receive a military burial at DFW National Cemetery on Tuesday.
Earl was born in Oklahoma City on February 6th, 1941 to Helen Louise Nance and Warren N. Armstrong.
As a young man, Earl enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960 and served as a weather observer in Korea. It was during his service that he began studying the Bible and was baptized into Christ.
After returning home, Earl married his loving wife Pat on April 30, 1964. They were long time residents of Northeast Tarrant County and members of Bridgewood Church of Christ where Earl later served as a Deacon and taught numerous Bible classes.
He attended Texas A&M University-Commerce and earned his Bachelors degree in Industry and Technology and his Masters degree in Technology. For over 15 years, Earl worked as a Design Engineer at Abbott Laboratories, retiring in 2000.
Over the years, Earl had many passions and hobbies. He was a Distinguished member of Toastmasters International for 28 years. In 1974 and 1976, he ran for US Congress in District 24 as part of the American Party. Earl had an incredible thirst for knowledge and loved reading. He also wrote several works that were published. His passion for learning and teaching lead him to continue his education at Tarrant County College where he taught classes to seniors on weather and "Writing Your Memoirs" and also served as the President of the NE Campus Senior Advisory Council.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Pat Armstrong, and their 2 daughters, Jeanne (David Jones) and Kim (Paul Lufkin); sister, Sharron Houlihan; 8 grandchildren, Chris Jones (Rebecca), Erik Jones (Cindy), Bekah Davaul (Nick), Timothy Lufkin, Christina Lufkin, Kelli White, Ryan White, and Brendan White; 7 great grandchildren, Cameron and Maggie Jones, Braden and Raelynn Jones, Kaiden, Zachary, and Lincoln Davaul.
