

Elizabeth Harrell Winter passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012. Visitation: 1:00 -3:00 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Alpine. Funeral: 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Alpine, with the Rev. Jane Vaughn officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Alpine. Elizabeth was born June 12, 1913 in Lockhart, Texas. She was the only daughter of N. Frank Harrell and Elizabeth Sullivan Harrell. Elizabeth graduated from Baylor University and attended Juilliard School in New York to further pursue voice training. She married Bill Winter on December 31, 1939 and received her MBA in Music from Sul Ross State University in 1940. Elizabeth was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Alpine, serving as the choir director for 40+ years and many boards and committees. Elizabeth was a friend to many, and a loving mother and grandmother; she was deeply loved and respected by her family. She loved to travel, exercise, play bridge, paint ceramics and china, and knit and crochet. She was preceded in death by.her parents and two brothers; her husband, Bill; and her son Harrell. Survivors: Daughter, Cheryl and her husband Rick, of Kennedale; grandson, Marcus William Shaw, of Arlington, and granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Martin and her husband Robby, of Lubbock.
