Emilie Susanne Scharlach, 29, passed away on September 2, 2018, in Arlington, Texas. She was born in Arlington on July 7, 1989.

Emilie was a proud Arlington and Texas native. She adored animals and children, and her favorite times were days spent cuddling with Kiki, her beloved pit bull rescue, and playing with her “Bean” – her three-year-old nephew Carter. She was very much looking forward to the upcoming birth of her niece in December. She loved hot summer days, trips to the zoo, true crime shows, word games, t-shirts and tennis shoes, penguins, sunflowers, Dino’s Subs, and Pappasito’s queso, in no particular order!

Emilie was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed searching for and experimenting with new recipes; everything she prepared was perfectly executed and delicious. When asked if she ever considered a career as a chef, she would reply that she was happiest cooking for her family and friends. Emilie was an avid follower of current events, both local and national, faithfully watching Channel 8 news and following local community and neighborhood groups. She also loved supporting her hometown teams, the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, as well as the Dallas Mavericks.

Emilie was kind, deeply loyal, and truly loved her family and friends unconditionally. Those of us fortunate to be on the receiving end are immeasurably enriched. She cherished her friends and never forgot the good times they shared. Her smile was a brilliant ray of sunshine and her laughter filled the room with joy. We will feel her loss till the end of our days, but will carry her sensitive spirit in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her uncles, Reid Phillips and Walter Leh. She is survived by her mother, Paige Phillips; father and stepmother John and Carola Scharlach; grandparents Ken and Nancy Phillips and John and Dorothy Scharlach; sister Natalie Hughes and her husband Albert; nephew Carter Hughes; aunts and uncles Jennifer and Jay DeOrdio, Raleigh Phillips, Debby and Barry Beall, and Kathy Hunter; and cousins Ian Leh, Brian and Betsy Beall, and Amber Hunter.

Emilie was a warm and passionated person who brighted the moments of everyone near her. I will miss her. Miss her smile, her cooking, her kindness. But I will always remember our last days together, helping Mom and Dad organize the house. Oh, God. She was so talented. Always ready to help and enjoying each moment. I hope you find peace. Love you!
