

Funeral services for Ernest Christian Vogt will occur Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
Ernest Christian Vogt, 93 of Yantis, Texas went to be with his heavenly father on January 8, 2023.
Ernest was born on November 11, 1929, in Victoria, Texas to Ernst Christian Vogt and Josephine Pannen Vogt. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge. In 1956, he graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Master Science in Mechanical Engineering. It was there at the Lutheran Student Center that he met his wife, Diane. They were married on August 31, 1957, in Austin, Texas. He would later continue his education and earn a master’s in electrical engineering from SMU. Ernest worked for LTV Aerospace Corporation, which later became Vought Aerospace from 1957 to 1994. He spent most of those years working in the high-speed wind tunnel and the B-1 Bomber.
Ernest or Ernie, as his friends and family called him, was intelligent, funny, kind-hearted and hardworking. He was happiest when he was in the middle of a project or riding on his blue tractor. He also spent many hours working in his garden and pecan orchard. Ernie had a love for music, restoring player pianos and singing in the church choir, He also had a love for cats. His side-kick Pinkie was always close by. Above all he was a family man, a devoted father of three and Pawpaw. He loved to entertain the grand kids with jeep rides, boat rides and endless games of dominoes. Ernie was also an enthusiastic traveler, and enjoyed many adventures and cruises with his wife, Diane.
After retirement he enjoyed working with the Vought Retirement Club. He also began substitute teaching at the Yantis Schools. He loved helping the young students.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Diane Lee Hudepohl Vogt; Daughter, Jeanne and husband Gary of Grand Prairie, Tx; son John and wife Kim of Denton, Tx.
Grandchildren, Jennifer Garcia, Jessica Jeffery, Jaclyn Garcia, Jill Howard, Jensen Parra, Julianne Parra, Danielle White, Taylor Vogt, and Collin Burns.
Great-Grandchildren, Jordana & Jeffrey Garcia, Molly, Ty & Quinn Jeffery, Christian & Cruz Garcia, Sophie & Jake Howard, Eisley & Ellie Rhoads and Hayes White. Sister Grace Vogt Johnson of Pittsfield. MA.
Ernest was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lee Vogt, his parents, and his brothers Charles Vogt, Paul Vogt and Mickey Vogt.
A Visitation for Ernest Vogt will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
A Committal service will occur Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
