

Fay was born in Pidcoke, Texas on December 3, 1928. She was the only child of Seth and Johnnie Basham. She was raised in Pidcoke and Gatesville where she loved spending time with her grandmother and playing with cousins. She married Billy Floyd Newton on August 20, 1949 after a brief courtship. They moved briefly to Virginia to finish his service in the Air Force then back home. Two years later the couple moved to Dallas and to Arlington in 1958 where Billy was a home builder and Fay a homemaker. They had 4 children and enjoyed 26 years together until his death on October 16, 1975.
She continued to raise their two youngest children and went on to travel and enjoy her Sunday School Class at Fielder Road Baptist Church. She also liked to crochet afghans and in her later years played bingo. She loved to visit and make friends. Despite several illnesses she kept her wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude which took her to 91 years. She passed of natural causes on September 4, 2020 and has moved on to her place with God.
She is survived by her children Douglas Gene Newton, Ricky Dean Newton, Sharon Newton Grant and Danny Craig Newton as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her internment is at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, TX alongside her husband and mother.
