On February 4, 2021, God called his daughter, Frances June Martin Buzzell of Caddo Mills, TX, home to the mansion He promised her in John 14:24. June was born on August 5, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas, where she lived until she was five years old. The Martin family moved to a farm in Dalworthington Gardens near Arlington, Texas, where June loved roaming the outdoors and making pets of the farm animals. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1964 and moved to Nacogdoches, Texas to attend Stephen F. Austin State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Spanish. Her first teaching assignment was in Waco, Texas, where she loved teaching Texas history to 7th grade students. After three years in Waco, she accepted a teaching position in Bastrop, Texas while pursuing an advanced degree at Sul Ross State University.
June left the teaching profession in 1972 and moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked in banking until joining the Dallas office of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1975. Her favorite job there was as a writer-editor in various departments of the regional office. She never found the work boring and enjoyed being able to add value to the documents crossing her desk as well as writing speeches and correspondence related to environmental protection. During her thirty years at the EPA, June received many awards, including the Bronze Medal for Commendable Service, the highest regional award presented. Despite the many political changes she weathered during her career, June remained committed to protecting the environment for future generations. She retired from EPA in 2005. Her interest in writing extended to her personal life where she enjoyed writing poems. She had two poems published and received awards for her writing.
The loves of June’s life were her beloved husband John, whom she married in 1976, her son John David who will always be her bright and shining star, his wife Jennifer and her grandsons Isaac and Eli. She had a nurturing character and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. She was active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha whose primary purpose is to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She loved knowing that her hard work would help find a cure for childhood cancer and catastrophic diseases, and was selected as outstanding ESA’er in 2014. She was also a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant, a charitable organization which supports many Masonic causes. The family recently moved to Caddo Mills, TX, where June again fell in love with home and country living.
June was preceded in death by her father Donald L. Martin, mother Virginia F. Martin, step-daughter Patricia Buzzell, and beloved husband, John E. Buzzell. She is survived by her son John David and wife Jennifer, grandsons Isaac and Eli of Caddo Mills, TX, sisters Edith Milam of Mansfield, TX, and Glenda Chambers (Hozea) of Bedford, TX, and brother James Martin of Port O’Connor, TX. She is also survived by nephews Todd (Christina) Milam of Arlington, TX, Ben (Julie) Milam of Fort Worth, TX, and Robert (Patti) Martin of Granbury, TX as well as nieces Susan Hyde of Bedford, TX, Christie (Eddie) Palacios of Azle, TX, and Julie (Dave) Onkels of Seattle, WA. Also surviving are numerous great nieces and nephews.
As John and June said: I will love you forever.
