Frances Charlyne Cook, 91, of Arlington, Texas, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 12, 2021. Charlyne, as she was most affectionately known, was born in Olthea, Texas, on November 14, 1929. She attended Abilene High School and then, in 1949, she graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a B.A. in English. Her professional career consisted of 30 dedicated years at Exxon Mobil, eventually retiring to take care of her family. Charlyne was a long-time member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where her passion was ministering to the shut-ins in Arlington.
Charlyne is preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Phalbia Steele; a brother, Neverson Deans Steele; a sister, Dora Elizabeth Goodlett; the father of her two boys, James Robert Massie, and her husband, James Clinton Cook.
Charlyne is survived by two sons: Terry Dale Massie and James Edward Massie; five grandchildren: Cameron Massie, Callye Wood and husband JR Wood, Caleb Massie, Cindy Malone, and Art Kistler, and several great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A graveside service for Frances will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
