

Gay Carter Harlan, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Irving Texas. He was born September 2, 1939, in Munday Texas to Sam & Millie Fay Harlan. Gay was raised in Munday Texas along with his 7 brothers & sisters. He graduated from Munday High School.
Gay was drafted into the Army, and he was stationed in Seattle Washington. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Texas. He spent most of his adult life in the Transportation Industry. Gay retired in 2003 and returned to Munday and the family farm.
Gay enjoyed living on the farm and he loved when family came to visit. Each Summer his Grandkids would come spend 10 days with him. He taught them how to shoot his guns and ride the 4 wheelers and swim in the horse trough. If you were lucky, he taught you how to drive. The grandkids all knew what happened at Grandpa’s stays at Grandpa’s.
Gay is proceeded in the death by his parents Sam & Millie Harlan and 6 of his brothers and sisters. Also, his daughter Jamie Harlan and former wife Geraldine Bayless.
Gay is survived by his sister Bobby Jean Boyd. His son Thomas (Tammy) Harlan of Mansfield TX and daughter Jo (Scott) Nicely of Tennessee. He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary & James Harlan, Austin, Houston and Lydia Sumrall and Faith & Carter Harlan. Great grandson Christopher Harlan. He also has numerous other family members who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will take place at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington TX on Friday December 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Fort Worth following his funeral service.
