Gayle Alexandria Burkhalter, 76, passed away at her home in Grand Prairie, Texas on June 13, 2023. Gayle was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the first of 5 children of C.A. McDaniel and Dorothy McDaniel (Smith). She was married in her 17th year to Norman Burkhalter, Jr (Skippy), a student at the University of Alabama, a marriage that would last for 58 years. Gayle graduated from Tuscaloosa High School.
She followed her husband and his career from Demopolis, Alabama, back to Tuscaloosa, to Birmingham, to Macon, Georgia and finally Grand Prairie. She started a new career everywhere she went and finally retired from American Airlines where she had a myriad of jobs. Her hard work and compassionate, caring ways made her lots of friends along the way.
Gayle is survived by her husband Norman; daughter, Deda (Johnny); daughter, Nicole Toups (Steve); grandchildren, Daelyn, Bryson, Chloe Wells; brother Johnny McDaniel (Darlene); sisters; Virginia Mullenix (James); Cecile Waldrop(Ken); and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tommy.
Gayle will be remembered for many things but most of all her love.
