Geneva Louise Tiller born in Waco, TX on May 28, 1932 to Charles “C.D.” Tiller and Prince Ella (White) Tiller. When Geneva was a baby her mother married Frank Hardeman whom she affectionately and lovingly referred to as “Daddy Frank". Geneva was raised along with eight siblings in the Austin, TX area. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Center Union Missionary Baptist Church in Smithville, TX. She attended Smithville Public Schools and graduated from O.L. Price High School in Taylor, TX. After high school Geneva attended Huston-Tillotson College. In 1952, she met and married the love of her life Chester Caldwell Jr. To this union five children were born. In 1964, Geneva and Chester relocated their young family to Fort Worth, TX. In addition to being a homemaker, Geneva was employed outside the home at ECC Electronics and with Arlington Independent School District. In 1964, the family joined Ebenezer Baptist Church and later in 1975 joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Geneva faithfully served as a Deaconess and choir member until her health would no longer allow her to. Geneva was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 52 years, mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her extended family and close friends. Geneva was a very good cook. She said she was motivated to become a good cook so that she would not have to work outside in the cotton field. She wanted no part of that and she made arguably the “best” peach cobbler ever. Geneva also had a passion for “high-fashion.” She loved her hats and furs. However, most important of all, she was a child of God who loved the Lord and devoted her life to her family and church.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Bruce Caldwell (Felicia), Richard Caldwell( April), Terry Caldwell (Evelyn), Chester III “Trey” Caldwell (Shawnda), brothers, Alton Hardeman, Clarence Hardeman (Anita), sisters, Albertyne Mitchell (Charles), Shirley Jones (Alfred), Juanita Cooper, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Price Ella Hardeman, Charles Tiller, Frank Hardeman, brother, D.L Tiller, sister, Susie Moore, husband, Chester, and daughter Linda Faye.
