

After graduating High School in Pascagoula, Mississippi he enlisted and served in the U S Army from 1951-1953.
In June of 1953 he married Virginia Plum and relocated to Houston, Texas where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Houston.
In 1954 a son was born, George Scot followed in 1955 by Elizabeth Kate and several years later, in 1961 William Todd and in 1963 Virginia Rene.
While employed by Sinclair Oil and Gas, George took the opportunity to move his family to Algeria, North Africa.
In 1968 returning to Texas,the Winter family settled in Euless, Texas where George began his career with Core Laboratories in Dallas.
After leaving Core- Lab, George and a few of his colleagues formed World Wide Petroleum, where he was named President. This allowed him travel to many parts of the world and experience many new cultures which he enjoyed immensely.
After the death of Virginia in 1980, George remarried Betty Jo Wyatt. He became a step father to Dana and Mark Wyatt through this marriage.They were together 13 years until her death.
Finding love again he married Bonnelle Hendrix .With this union Beth Ann Spracklen and Kyle Hendrix joined the extended family. After retirement he and Bonnelle moved to Pasagoula where they enjoyed only a few years until hurricane Katrina devastated their home and they moved back to the DFW area.George and Bonnelle remained married until his death.They were together just over 20 years.
Through these marriages the family grew, with many grandchildren and great grand children.
As with life sadly comes death and George as the patriarch saw his family through many of these challenges. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth, His wives, Virginia and Betty ,his brother in law, Harold Perry, grandson Steven Winter-Ryan, son in law, Rick McBee and only last year his son, Todd Winter.
George was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Legion of Honor and Life Member. Life Member of the National Geographic Society and the Elks.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday January 9, at 2:00 p.m. Saint Peter and Saint Paul Episcopal Church, 3900 Morris Ln,Arlington, Texas76016.
George requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
