Some of my best memories as a kid were ones spent at the Drechler house with my parents. 
Gerhard always cooking an awesome meal in preparation for a Cowboys game while I played with Steven and Gerhard Jr and Susan. I was only 5-10yrs old but I remember the house and the smell of the food like it was yesterday! But nothing matched the warm and friendliness of the home and house he helped create. It was just like being with family every time. I will remember and cherish those days forever thanks to him.

My Sweet Daddy,

As I spent time in prayer this morning and spent time reflecting on you, my thoughts continually went to 'My Sweet Daddy'.  As I read through the book of Revelation this morning I rejoiced in knowing that you are in the presence of our Heavenly Father.  That you stand before Him in all His glory, no more death or mourning or crying or pain.  I rejoice that through you there is reconciliation within the family and my prayer is that through your life story, that was heard by many on Saturday, that others may come to know Christ.  

My heart hurts terribly Daddy.  I miss you!  I love you!  I thank you for your love, faithfulness and provision.  I rejoice for you!  I will carry you in my heart always, until the day I too stand with you in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Mr. Drechsler was always a nice patient when he came to see Dr. Kelso
at Mid Cities Clinic. He had a kind smile and was a gentleman.

"So glad we had time to re-unite on a few occasions in the past couple of years. We were blessed as kids to have loving families and a loving neighborhood to grow up in. Gerhard was always a larger than life figure to me. In my experience, he chose his words carefully and was able to share wisdom with me recently. Ironically we had a common bond and I am grateful to the Drechsler family for all the great childhood memories!"

Lots of happy memories when we were kids.  Cowboy games every Sunday, football, baseball you name it.  Can't leave out the great German food.  So thankful to have known Mr. D.  And thankful to have been able to talk with him earlier this year and remember the great childhood I had growing up with Susan, Steve and Gerhard.  Until the next go around.  I hope we meet again.

Gerhard was a most excellent neighbor.  Always smiling and joking around!  I'll never forget the first time I met him - told me he was glad I moved in because he was no longer the new kid on the block - after 32 years.

I'm glad we know where he is and that we will see him again.  My prayers are with the family.

You will be missed, Opa! We are so glad we got to see you at Easter to be with the kids and to meet Nolan. We are so grateful for that memory. Love always ❤
