He was born in Hanau, Germany, on May 21, 1939. Starting at the age of 14, he began culinary school, and after graduating, he worked as a chef in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Turkey prior to traveling to Texas in 1963.
When he moved to Arlington, he worked for Sky Chefs, where he met his wife of 40 years, Gayle. He retired from the company in 1998, but continued to cook delicious meals for his family.
The joy of his life was being Opa to his 4-year-old granddaughter, Elsa, whom he loved babysitting weekly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Erna Krengel.
Survivors: Wife, Gayle; and daughter, Kristina, son-in-law, Robert McAmis, and granddaughter, Elsa.
