

Harold Schump was born in Herington, Kansas, on December 6, 1927 to Paul and Lauraetta Schump. He was the fourth of five children. He served in the military and went on to graduate from Kansas State with a degree in Business. He married his wife, Oraina, in 1955. They have three children, Deborah, Perry, and Ronald. Harold worked for the US Government in the Department of Defense (DCASR - Air Force) for more than 30 years. His job took the family from Kansas to Texas, then to California and back to Texas. He finished his career working for Bell Helicopter for a few more years. Harold loved helping coach community youth sports, particularly with the Optimist Club of Arlington. He was very involved in their church, Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, serving on various committees and organizations, often holding leadership positions. Harold is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Oraina Schump; their three children - Deborah Schump of Mena, Arkansas, Perry Schump (Deanna) of Hawkins, Texas, Ronald Schump (Janet) of Arlington ; a brother, Harry Schump of Herington, Kansas; six grandchildren - Bradley Schump of Hawkins, Breanna Gallagher (Nathan) of Arlington, Nicole Dereed (Steven) of Hawkins, Autumn Johnson (Sean) of Arlington, Krista Schump of Hawkins, and Madison Schump of Hawkins; six greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A prayer service in his memory will be help at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Arlington on April 20 at 10:00.
