He was born in Fort Worth on Dec. 2, 1945, to Harold John Thiessen and Evelyn "Peb" Thiessen. Johnnie graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and received a B.A. in history. He married Cynthia Kaye Thiessen on Dec. 6, 1968. Johnnie was a government worker for Harry Diamond Labs, National Cancer Institute, and then later at Farmers Insurance. He was a member of Fort Worth Citizens On Patrol, and had a passion for trains, Civil War and World War II history, and trivia.
Survivors: His loving wife, Cynthia Kaye Thiessen; son, Andy Thiessen and wife, Alysia; sister, Judy Lyon and husband, Hugh; nieces and nephews, Leslie Tabor, George Tabor and Mike Lyon; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Hollie Tabor, Paige Tabor and Garrett Tabor.
