Hazel was born on November 16, 1927 to Hosea and Mable Lee. Hazel was a scholar in Robinson County Schools and graduated from W.D. Spigner High School. She later attended nursing college in Tarrant County and worked at Harris Hospital until she retired.
Prior to Hazel's retirement as a nurse, she traveled the world extensively with her military husband, Nelson Wilson. She later settled in California before her move to Fort Worth in 1965. Shortly after moving to Fort Worth, Hazel joined Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant until her illness prevented her from attending services. She was a member of both the Eastern Stars and Women's Bible Study, and contributed to many auxiliaries.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Mable Lee; husband, Nelson Wilson; son-in-law, Louis Smith; and brother, J.L. Lee
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Delois Smith; granddaughter, Laronda Manning; adopted granddaughter, Carmen (Tami) Jones; two great-grandsons, Jason and Adam Manning; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
