Colwell, Helen Chadwick - was truly beloved by all who knew her. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 23, 1932 and lived most of her early life in Ohio. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and where she also met the love of her life, Jim Colwell. In 1964, the couple moved to Grand Prairie with their two children Brad and Susan, and in 1969, their third child Rob was born. Helen lived in Grand Prairie for 38 years, embedding herself in the community through her participation in numerous local clubs and charities. She was Past President of the Woman's Club, and continued to actively support their Kids, Inc. charity up until her recent hospitalization. In 2002, she and Jim retired to Pebblebrook Village in Arlington, where Jim preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage. Helen will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, kind and generous nature, enthusiasm for sports and politics, and her unwavering positive attitude. Helen loved her family and many friends deeply, and took every opportunity to lend an ear or offer an encouraging word. She lived life to the fullest and followed her passions whether for work or play. Helen is survived by her sons, Brad Colwell, Rob Colwell and wife Tina, her daughter Susan Perry and husband Ted, and her four grandchildren, Paige, Colin, Emma, and Pearce, whom she loved immensely. She was a proud and fabulous "Gramma," never missing an important event in her grandchildren's lives and always staying in close contact with them. Helen went to join Jim and meet her Lord, Jesus Christ, on the morning of February 22, 2016. A memorial service and celebration of Helen's life will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Woman's Club of Grand Prairie for Kids, Inc.
