

Herbert Carl Lindahl, age 101, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Weatherford, TX surrounded by his family. He was born on May 15, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa to August Lindahl and Mildred Switzer. Herbert was raised in Saylorville and Des Moines, IA and graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1942.
Following graduation he joined the United States Army Signal Corp, where he helped create and manage communications and information systems. Herbert worked tirelessly as a parts locator at GM Parts Division in Dallas, TX for more than 30 years. He served on GM Auto Parts Credit Union board as loan advisor.
In 1953, Herbert married Billie Ruth Morelock and had one child together. He loved spending time with his family. He took great pride in being a husband and a father to Billie and Carol.
In his spare time, he enjoyed buying and selling real estate and working on rental houses. He went on to earn real estate sales and broker license. He especially enjoyed his part time occupation in sales, including property, air conditioners, appliances, newspapers, etc. Herbert received the Publishers Award from Des Moines Register- Tribune in 1941 for his sales ability. While living in Texas he earned his barber license and worked as a barber part time. Herbert loved watching football, baseball and basketball, especially for the schools in state.
Herbert became a Master Mason and was a member of Irving Masonic Lodge and he received his 75-year member pin in 2021.
His family will always remember him as a kind, generous, hardworking man with a dry wit that made you laugh at unexpected times.
Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, August and Mildred Lindahl; wife, Billie Lindahl and grandson, Alex Harris.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Paul Harris; Grandson, Daniel Harris, Sister, Alice Meek and niece, Karey Meek-Anderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Valley Ranch Baptist Church, 1501 E Belt Line Road, Coppell, Texas 75019.
