Jim’s faith, family, and friends were distinguished characteristics to all who knew him. He was born in Aurora, Illinois, and was the youngest of his two siblings, Dick and Kay. While Growing up in Aurora, he attended Marmion Military Academy then joined the Army and served two years in Germany.
Upon returning to the States, Jim married his sweetheart, Donna Jean Zikmund in 1961, and they were married until her passing in 2001. While working in pharmaceutical sales he moved his young family to Texas in 1966 and continued to work in the sales profession for the majority of his career.
He enjoyed watching, coaching, and refereeing sports and even coached one of Arlington’s first women’s soccer teams with the Arlington Soccer Association. Along with coaching, he was passionate about volunteering with First Call, Mission Arlington, at his church, and with the Knights of Columbus in which he was a Fourth Degree Knight. For fun, Jim enjoyed his poker club buddies, hunting, fishing, and traveling with Donna. In his later years, he loved to play card games, bingo, puzzles, and Rummikub.
Anyone who knew him was amazed by his sharp-mindedness and clever responses…even at age 87! Pappy you will be missed so much!
Survivors: He was survived by three children, Brian (Janet) Devine, Debbie (Keith) Whitlock, and Andee (Ron) Holmgreen. He was a beloved Pappy to eight grandchildren, Tiffany Whitlock, Jessica (Chaz) Becker, Maddie Whitlock, Jenna (Zach) Mehringer, Bryce (Allysa) Whitlock, Payton (Wade) Johnson, Brock Holmgreen, and Reese Holmgreen.
