Service: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home.
Jim was born March 8, 1955, in Marlin to Tommie and Lucille Farris. Later in life, Carter came under the influence of his stepfather and mentor, Lt. Col. Charles Nash. Jim was raised in Temple, where had he many friends and was remembered mostly as Carter.
Jim always gave sage advice and could command a crowd's attention with his stories and political views. He was employed as a sales representative for MGE, where he set the standards for the company and was looked upon as a mentor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Mary Gail Farris and Sue Farris.
Survivors: His wife, Debbie; daughter, Crystal; sister, Tommiann and brother-in-law, Michael Jacob; niece, Rebecca and her husband, Vincent Porter; and great-nephew, Jacob Porter.
