On Friday March 9, 2018, James David Hobby passed away following a long battle with cancer, at the age of 78. He was born April 2nd, 1939 to Alvin and Georgia Hobby in Livingston, Zambia, as the oldest of 5 children.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Karen, and his children Kim Wagner and husband Kendall, and Jim Hobby and wife Avery.
David will be remembered with much love by his grandchildren Lindsay Wagner, Jessica Davault and husband Tyler, Megan Craig and husband Cameron, and Blake Hobby.
He is also survived by his first great-grandchild David Davault. David will also be forever remembered by his sister Anita Mitchell and husband Dennis; brother Kenneth Hobby and his wife Ann and his sister-in-law Priscilla Hobby as well as many other family members and dear friends. David was proceeded in death by his parents, Alvin and Georgia Hobby, and his brothers Paul Hobby and George Hobby.
David was a lifelong educator. First, at the university level and then later in life as a science teacher. He was dearly loved by his students. He had many passions in life, but the most important were his God and his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and was able to visit all seven continents in his life time.
He will be forever remembered by his family and friends as a sandwich maker extraordinaire, French fry bandit, fishing guide, and tomato grower to the stars.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday March 17, 2018 at North Davis Church of Christ, 1601 N. Davis Dr. in Arlington Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Jeramiah’s Hope, Hearts and Hands, Christian Campus Center (Tri-C) at UTA, or Namwianga Missions.
