James Walter Young Jr.

Graveside service will be held at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronnie Adams officiating.

J.W. was born in Levelland, Texas on March 18, 1928 to James and Bernice Young. He lived most of his childhood in Athens, Texas and attended Athens High School.

At age 17, he enlisted in the Marines and served 4 years stationed in Panama.

He married Margaret Shaver on December 30, 1949 and moved to Grand Prairie to begin a 39 year career as a buyer at LTV. They raised their family and lived in Grand Prairie until the time of his death.

J.W. served as deacon for many years at Dalworth/ Westridge Baptist Church in Grand Prairie and later at First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie.

J.W. enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid reader of history, loved the Cowboys and his dog, Honey.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Margaret; daughter, Donna Parrent; parents James and Bernice Young; sister, Berniece Pickle.

Survived by daughters Rhonda Loveless (David) and Kathy Mikus (Bobby).

Grandchildren John Parrent (Taimeaka), Eric Parrent (Josie), Jennifer Roberts (Matt), Rachel Dodson (Clifton), Brian Loveless, Kristin Urwin (Brad), Jayson Mikus (Beth), Lacey Murray (Joe).

Great Grandchildren Khloe, Jordin, Dustin, Paige, Taylor, Hudson, Lily, Abby, one not yet born, Kaitlin, Kaleb, Karlee, Tessa, Paisley, Hailey, Waylon.
