Janette was born on December 15, 1949, in Evening Shade, Arkansas. As the first child of Allien and Charles Lewis Hayden, she was a doting big sister to her little sister and twin brothers. Their family moved to Texas and eventually settled in Arlington, where Janette graduated from Arlington High School in 1968. She then attended North Texas State University in Denton, TX, as a Journalism major.
The following year, in 1969, Janette married and had two daughters. Years later, in 1982, Janette and her two girls moved back to Denton, and she married the love of her life, Paul Haywood. They became a blended family on that blessed day 43 years ago with Paul's three boys and Janette's two girls.
In her community, Janette was actively involved in the arts scene for many years. She served in various roles as a volunteer, a leader, and a board member of the Denton Arts Guild as well as the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival until recent years.
Throughout her marriage to Paul, Janette was often researching new and exciting destinations for them to visit. They traveled throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe, collecting memories and stories that they delightfully shared throughout their lives.
Janette is survived by her loving husband, Paul, and their children: Paul Haywood III, Tara Palmatier, Shaun Haywood (Alexia), Kristin Palmatier McCuller, and Damon Haywood (Adriana). Janette will fondly be remembered as Nana to her five grandchildren: Ashley McCuller, Taylor Haywood, Gunnar Haywood, Skylar Haywood, and Hudson Haywood.
In addition, she is survived by her sister, Jonia Hayden (Fletcher); her brothers, Russ Hayden (Michele) and Ron Hayden (Karen); and nieces and nephews. Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lewis and Allien Hayden; her beloved aunt, Tommie Shaughnessy; and her grandson, Carter McCuller.
Funeral arrangements have been made through Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Arlington, TX. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with a service the following day on Friday, September 18th.
Janette's family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we have felt and received during this significant time.
