Jason O'Malley

Jason O'Malley graduated from Lamar High School, attended Paris Junior College and later moved to San Francisco where he explored new places and possibilities. He was a Pope Panther. His job in San Francisco was assisting people with transitional housing. He aspired to pursue biomedical studies and hoped to transfer from community college to a four-year university. His mind was sharp and inquisitive, and he carried an earnest passion for learning even when the path he chose was unconventional.

Outdoors he came alive. He loved hiking, camping, bicycling and rock climbing - anything that let him be outside - discovering beauty and challenge in the world around him. His enjoyment and confidence in the outdoors was fostered by his experiences with the boys and men of Boy Scout Troop 68 where he achieved the rank of Life Scout.

He had a sly sense of humor and those who knew him will remember his thoughtful, kind nature, his big ideas, and the intensity with which he cared about the things that captured his interest.

Jason is survived by his loving family: parents John and Catherine O’Malley of Arlington, grandparents Glenn and Margaret Ford of Bedford, aunt Lisa Decker and cousin Georgia Decker of San Antonio; uncle George O’Malley and aunt Peggy Campbell of Round Rock, and aunt Katherine and uncle Mark Edwards, cousins Claire and Nate Edwards of Washington, as well as Penny (who is a cat) of Arlington.

He is preceded in death by grandparents George and Eva Lou O’Malley and uncle Kevin O’Malley.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive Arlington, TX 76012 with a reception to follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Arlington Life Shelter in Jason’s name. Jason recognized the importance of self-sufficiency and secure housing. Honoring him in this way reflects the compassion and insight he carried with him.
