Jeffrey Allen Giacomel, 67, passed away on May 18,2025. He was welcomed into the world on May 3, 1958, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania by his parents Mildred Jean Giacomel (nee Spiller) and Louis Anthony Giacomel. Jeff graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1976. He then attended the University of Pittsburg where he did research on the shuttle tile and worked doing energy audits. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1980.
Jeff loved to hunt and had fond memories of time he spent on his family’s farms as he grew up in Pennsylvania. He was an avid supporter of scouting and attended the 1975 World Scout Jamboree in Norway after becoming an Eagle Scout. He was also the proud father of two Eagle Scouts. He loved history and writing poetry. Jeff was partial to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania but also grew to love the Texas sunsets and “big skies” as he called them. Moving to Texas in 1980, he began a challenging and rewarding career with LTV (now Lockheed Martin) in Grand Prairie.
His working years were dedicated to design of various missile systems primarily for the ASAT, LOSAT, ATACMS, MLRS, VT-1 programs as well as the Space Station. While at LTV, he was an inventor and earned several patents in multiple areas of technology including a read, write and erase optical memory system. One of his colleagues commented, “Jeff, you are engineering.” He was an avid reader and never stopped learning. Jeff could talk with anyone and did.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Deborah (Debby) Ann Murphy, their children Judson L Giacomel, Jeffrey P Giacomel and Gianna H Giacomel. He is also survived by his sister Pamela Luke, her husband Richard Luke and their children Brendan Luke and Erin Luke and his sister Lisa Giacomel.
