Joan was born Aug. 22, 1927, to Thomas and Marianne Tarpey in Oak Park, Ill. Joan married William A. Capella on Nov. 29, 1947, in Chicago, Ill. After raising her children, she attended UT-Arlington where she earned a B.A. in communications, graduating with honors in July 1980. She worked in victim services for MADD for many years. Joan had been a member of Mensa since 1979.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William; and sisters, Rita Jacob and Carol Tarpey.
Survivors: Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Bill Capella and his wife, Cindy, of Nevada, Texas, and Steve Capella and his wife, Nelda, of Arlington; daughter, Jan Capella Jezek of Arlington; grandchildren, Corey, Taylor, Cody, Dustin, Jessica and Erica; and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jayden.
