

Service: 12:30 p.m. Monday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, the Rev. Melanie Barnett Wright officiating. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington.

He was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Minden, La., to Marion and Lillie McCoy Davis. He was a graduate of Doyline, La., High School and received his undergraduate and master's degrees from LSU. He was a certified public accountant who began his career at Deloitte & Touche in Houston. He later joined Alcon Laboratories in Fort Worth, where he served as vice president and controller of the Ophthalmology Division. After his retirement, he was honored with membership in Alcon's Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. He was an officer in the Arlington Genealogy Society and the Arlington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He served as a city of Pantego councilman and was a charter founder of the Arlington ISD Foundation. Joe was a smart and gentle man, loved and fondly remembered by many who knew him.
Survivors: His wife of 47 years, Katherine Wilson Davis; brother, Wayne T. Davis and his wife, Marilyn, of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter, Nancy and her husband, Chuck Gay, of Cypress; daughter, Meredith and her husband, Greg Sandine, of Richmond, Va.; and grandchildren, Natalie and Richard Gay.
