John Ivan Anderson

Services for John Ivan Leonard Anderson will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, August 14, 2015, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington. Burial will follow in Moore Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to join the family for refreshments in the Moore Central Reception Hall following the graveside committal. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Anderson passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 in Mansfield at the age of 90.

John Ivan Leonard Anderson was born July 19, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to John Ivan Anderson and Olivia Carlson Anderson. He married Julia Patricia Peel in 1954. She preceded him in death in 1980. John joined the United States Air Force February 8, 1944 and served as a gunner in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. After the war John was employed as a helicopter mechanic for Bell Helicopter.

John married Evelyn Barnard in 2002. She preceded him in death in 2015.

John enjoyed working with his hands and spent his free time building models and doing carpenter work. He loved to travel and collect things.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his daughter Vicki Harvey and her husband Jerry, two step-daughters, Cheryl McGuire and Nina Cox, two step-sons Clinton Elder and Shane Barnard, one granddaughter, Erin Harvey, one grandson, Jason Harvey, three great-grandchildren, Brody Lindsey, Madison Lindsey, Jett Lindsey and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and one God son, John Whittenstrom.
