Kenneth David Jorgensen passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Ken spent his final years in Arlington, Texas, close to family. He was born on July 19, 1936, in Dunnell, Minnesota, to parents Frank Christopher Jorgensen and Luella Ann Prust Jorgensen, the third of seven siblings. Growing up, Ken spent many hours working on the family farm and playing sports. He attended Sherburn High School, graduating in 1954. After high school, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College, earning a BA degree in Business Administration in 1958. Ken had a prolific career in finance, working as a Chief Financial Officer and accountant for U.S. Gypsum Company, Measurement Research Center, Westinghouse, and finally Emory University, from where he retired in 1999.
Ken was a stalwart figure in his family and community, and his presence will be immensely missed by everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his quiet humor, calm demeanor, and kindness, in addition to his dedication to physical fitness. Ken was an avid gym-goer through most of his life, as well as an active tennis player. He played competitive tennis into his 70s as a member of a “super seniors” league at the local recreation center when he lived in San Antonio. In the spirit of balance, Ken was also a lover of sweet treats. Carrot cake was his favorite, but he was never one to turn down a delicious oatmeal raisin cookie.
Ken is survived by his brothers Frank Jorgensen Jr., Gene Jorgensen (Nell), and Thomas Jorgensen (Kathy); his loving children, Catherine Jorgensen Snyder (Timothy), David Alan Jorgensen (Theresa), Douglas Christopher Jorgensen, Deborah Ann Krinock (Ian), Justin Erik Jorgensen (Sarah Beach), and James Neale Weber (Kelly). He also leaves behind an enduring legacy with his grandchildren: Dylan Snyder, Shane Snyder, Samuel Jorgensen, Katherine Jorgensen, Grace Jorgensen, Isaac Jorgensen, Dutch Weber, Pierce Weber, and Callum Krinock, as well as two great-grandchildren, Eloise Snyder and George Snyder. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald Jorgensen; his sisters, Julane Gripentrog and Phyllis Gilbertson; and his infant son, Craig Steven Jorgensen and infant daughter, Sarah Jean Jorgensen.
