He is preceded in death by his six brothers and sisters and his father Eugene Robert Kempton and mother Jessi Mae Kempton of Baxter Springs, Kansas.
Larry was born on August 4, 1944 in Baxter Springs, KS, to parents Eugene Robert Kempton and Jessi Mae Kempton. He graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1962 and went on to play football at Kansas State College where he was a mathematics major. In 1972 he retired from the military to pursue a career as an air traffic controller with the FAA and retired in 1999.
Larry was a great family man and a loving father. He married Hellen Elizabeth Pack in 1967 and the couple raised 2 children together.
He enjoyed vacationing with his family, gardening with his wife, and spending time with those he loved. He was an avid history enthusiast, and spent many hours modeling WWII era aircraft as one of his favorite hobbies.
His family and friends will always remember him as an honest, generous, and loving person, who cared deeply for his family, his country, and those in need.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life. The family would like to thank all of our family and friends for being by our side through this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers Larry would like you to consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior’s Project. www. support.woundedwarriorproject.org
