Michael, as he preferred to be called, was born on November 8, 1940, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Lee and June Moore.
Michael was an incredibly talented artist who openly shared his gifts with anyone and everyone. He mentored countless amateur artists and kept in touch with many of his former students throughout the years. While he appreciated all forms and mediums of art, his greatest passion was deeply influenced by his Native American roots and the beauty of the Southwest.
He had a profound love of animals. What began with dogs grew over time to include cats, birds, squirrels, and just about any of God’s creatures—often preferring their company to that of people. Independent and solitary by nature, he cherished his freedom and independence until the very end.
Michael loved Boxing, MMA fighting, baseball and football. He used to love listening to the fireworks after a Texas Rangers win at the old Ballpark in Arlington. He supported the Dallas Cowboys but often cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs—partly because of their success, and partly because they originated from the Dallas Texans, which he felt was as good as it could get for Dallas fans. Michael especially loved college football and was an avid supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners, a nod to his Oklahoma roots.
Michael is survived by his son, Michael Shawn Moore, his daughter-in-law Shannon Moore, his 4 grandsons William Moore, Benjamin Moore, Christopher Talyor and Matthew Taylor, and his beloved nieces and nephews, including Laura Leslie, Leo “Sonny” Kelly, Maureen Kelly, Christina Lusk, Simone Manly, Colleen Ronco, and so many others.
A small service to honor Michael’s life will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. Friends and family are invited to attend, share memories and celebrate his life.
