Don used to carry a little card in his wallet and ask if you had seen his “pride & joy”. His eyes would light up as he pulled out the picture. And, of course, it was a joke (a picture of the dish soap called Pride & Joy). He loved to laugh. He loved to make you laugh. I can remember when the picture in his wallet switched over to a picture of his grandbabies. He still wanted to show you his “pride & joy” but it was a whole new light in his eyes. I told him recently I thought that it was his goal in life to see what kindness he could do next. He walked through life pointing people to Jesus. In his actions, he was an example of generous giving. In his words, he brought joy to each moment. You know, so he could hear the Lord say, “Don, you are my pride & joy! Well done my good and faithful servant.”

I met Don at Chick-fil-a.  What a delight it was to serve you almost every day.  You always brought a smile to my face.  I looked forward to seeing you .  Thank you for being a part of my life.  You are now in Heaven with Jesus and still making me smile.  Go live your life.  I’m so happy to have been apart of your life.
