

Leo Strickland, age 87, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 21st, surrounded by the love of family and a lifetime of memories well lived. He was born on June 13, 1938, in Axtell, Texas, to James Melton “Jim” Strickland and Maggie (Thrasher) Strickland.
Leo spent much of his life in Arlington; a place he proudly called home. A devoted and hardworking man, he dedicated many years to General Motors, where his strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity were evident to all who worked alongside him. After retirement, Leo enjoyed the simple blessings of life and time with family, familiar routines, and the quiet comfort of home, watching westerns and sipping on a cold beer.
Leo was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sandra (Bailey) Strickland. Their partnership was one of deep love, loyalty, and devotion. Though Sandra preceded him in death, Leo carried her love with him always, finding strength and comfort in the life they built together.
Throughout his life, Leo exemplified the values of hard work, kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion to family. He was a steady presence, a quiet source of wisdom, and a man whose actions spoke louder than words. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him, and in the generations of family he leaves behind.
Leo is survived by his cherished grandchildren, Chelsea Standish, Christian Standish, Nathan Standish, and fiancée Brooke Ramminger. He was a proud great grandfather to Devin Fagan, Ixchel Cantu, Anthony Standish, Alex Standish, CJ Standish, Walker Standish, and Riot Standish. He is also survived by his sister in law Kathryn Strickland and his niece Gloria Mathis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sandra Strickland; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Standish; his son in law, Patrick Miles Standish; his sisters, Inez Breitkreutz and her husband Henry, and Thelma Jones and her husband Marion; and his brothers, Will D. Strickland, Cecil Strickland, Clifton Strickland, Odis Strickland and wife Loraine, Bobby Joe Strickland and wife Barbara, Jimmy Strickland and wife Dorothy, and Vernon Strickland and wife Kitty.
Leo will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of his family. His life was one of strength, enduring love, and a legacy that will continue for generations.
