Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Burial: will follow in Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home.
He was born in Hutchins on May 28, 1926, to Dee and Martha Kirkpatrick. Leon was a member of American Legion 569, VFW Post of Alvarado, Elks Lodge 2114 of Arlington for 43 years, Latin American Club, Carswell Air Force Base, served in U.S Naval Air, IAM Union Local 776 for 63 years and Texas LST Amphibious Association, and coached youth baseball in Arlington for over 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dot Kirkpatrick; son, Pat Kirkpatrick; and grandson, Kyle Kirkpatrick.
Survivors: His wife, Dee Robinson Kirkpatrick; daughter, Linda Kirkpatrick Sexton and husband, Bobby; son, Mike Kirkpatrick and wife, Ann; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
