Lucille G. Garcia was called home by the Lord on March 23, 2024. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on Sept 24, 1938, graduating from Incarnate Word Academy. After high school, she began her impressive educational journey at Del Mar College, where she received her first Nursing degree. She went on to receive her RN degree from San Antonio College. While working in her nursing career in Houston, she met and married the love of her life, Ramiro Garcia. They raised three daughters and shared 52 happy years of marriage until Ramiro’s passing in 2016. Lucille was a devout Catholic with great faith and trust in God. She & Ramiro were greatly involved in the church activities at their parish St Maria Goretti. Their children began their education in the Catholic school system, where again they were very active participants in their girls’ school programs & events. Her admiration for the Catholic education system was such that after 15 years in Nursing, Lucille decided to switch careers while being a survivor of stage 4 Cancer. She went back to school, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Education from UT Arlington, then went on to earn her Master’s degree from TCU. She was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. And all this she accomplished while continuing her full-time RN work, taking care of her family, raising her daughters, and running her household. She was an Educator for 20+ years, during which she was recognized as Teacher of the Year. Lucille closed the book on teaching in 1999, but retained close ties as a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association. In addition to her educational accomplishments, Lucille was a gifted cook and hostess. She loved to entertain and her holiday dinners are legendary, true celebrations of family and fellowship. She was a talented designer, creating beautiful homes and gardens in her homes in Houston, where she began her married life, and in Arlington, where she completed her life’s journey. She goes to reunite with her husband Ramiro, her beloved eldest daughter Carmen Grace Emrich; her dear Mother Lou Gonzalez; her cherished Aunt Lala Gomez; and her treasured Uncle Arthur Hernandez. Surviving to cherish her memory are her Daughter Laura and her husband Paul Perez and their daughters Carmen & Isabella; her Daughter Lisa and her husband Louis Tovar and their children Matthew & Katie; her sister Anne Valdez; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and her precious little dog Coco. Lucille was loved dearly by her family and we will miss her presence until the happy day when we all reunite in Heaven. Viewing and Rosary on April 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N.
