Mamie Jo Houston was born in San Angelo, TX on September 21, 1932 to Kent and Hazel Kennedy. On January 7, 1952 she married John T. Houston, Jr. of San Angelo. After relocation to Laredo, Austin, Houston, Denver and Norman, they finally settled in Arlington in 1962 where they reared four children and spent the remainder of their lives. Jo was a consummate homemaker and hostess. Her home was always a beautifully decorated location for holidays, birthdays and special occasions. She was a gourmet cook who took great pride not only in her cooking but also in setting a beautiful table with wonderful presentation. Jo used her artistic talents as the head of the St. Albans flower guild for 12 years. She loved to fret over each and every arrangement and ensured they met the church’s requirements. Jo and John traveled extensively with friends in the ‘80s and ‘90s around the U.S. and Europe. Jo’s favorite trip was to New York City during Christmas where she saw “Phantom of the Opera” starring the original cast. That music continued to be amongst her favorites.
Jo was a very loving mother, sister and MiMi.
