Marcus was incredibly intelligent, talented, and gifted with his hands. He loved the water and was happiest near the ocean, rivers, and lakes, especially Lake Whitney, which held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed boating, camping, water skiing, and spending time outdoors.
As a young man, Marcus was an accomplished trumpet player whose talent impressed everyone who heard him play. He approached life with curiosity, creativity, and a sense of adventure that never left him.
Most of all, Marcus was loved, and he loved deeply in return—often more deeply than he realized. Whether through a hug that lasted a little too long, a grip that was a little too tight, or his own unique way of showing affection, those who loved him knew his heart was always bigger than his words.
Marcus is survived by his mother, Rebecca Martinez; his daughter, Miralee Martinez; his son, Devin Robinette; his sister, Zoraida Martinez, and her husband, Daniel; his niece, Becca Martinez; his nephew, Damian Martinez; and numerous extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Martinez, Jr., and his brother, Carl Martinez.
We take comfort in knowing that Marcus knew he was loved, and we will carry his memory with us always.
There will never be another Marcus.
In lieu of flowers the Martinez family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choosing to honor Marcus.
