Mariel Laurene Andrews, age 86, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Carrollton, Texas. She was born on March 18, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, to Roy and Agnes Carter, their only child. Mariel was raised in Denver and began dating Steve Andrews while attending Wheatridge High School, graduating in 1958. The couple went on to college together, marrying in 1961 during their shared time at the University of Colorado at Boulder, followed by Southern Methodist University where she earned her degree in Sociology.
Throughout her education, Mariel displayed abundant talents and aptitudes, becoming a dedicated scholar and accomplished pianist. However, she will be remembered best by her family and neighbors for both her lifelong devotion as a homemaker and her substantial contributions to the Nottingham community, which she and Steve called home for fifty-five years.
Mariel is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Agnes Carter. She is survived by her husband, Steve Andrews; her son, James Andrews, and wife Angelique; her daughter, Kristin Hearn, and husband Greg; and her grandchildren, Rachel Hearn, Gregory Hearn, and Jessica Andrews.
Visitation will be held on September 13, 2026, at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, TX, at 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Moore on September 14, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a brief reception at 11:30 a.m. Mariel will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
