Marion Lawson "M.L." McCoy, 64, of Burleson, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 13, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Willie Clayton and Frances M. Salletti McCoy. He married Lela Gayle Bell on June 7, 1975, in Grand Prairie. He lived most of his life in Grand Prairie before moving to Burleson 10 years ago. In Burleson he became a member of First Baptist Burleson and was re-baptized September 1, 2013. He was a member of Grand Prairie Bass Club and LTV Bass Club. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Sam R. Hamilton # 1031. He worked in final inspection for Lockheed, an aircraft manufacturing company in Fort Worth. He was known for "rejecting with a smile" when the work was not up to par. He also taught karate at the Grand Prairie Community Center. He always had a story, usually involving something humorous, which had happened to himself. His hobbies included, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He called eating out an event and usually was at a restaurant quite a long time eating and cutting up with his family. His favorite quote was "Learn by the mistakes of others because you cannot live long enough to make them all yourself" a modified quote from Samuel Levenson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Fuller; brother, Alex A. McCoy; daughter, Rachel Rochelle McCoy; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Lela McCoy of Burleson; daughter, Stephanie Colón and husband Nicholas Colón of Burleson; grandchildren, Brennan Nicholas Colón and Hudson Alexander Colón; brother, Elby McCoy of Gun Barrel City; sister, Tina Moore and her husband Ted Moore of Colleyville; sister-in-law Mary L. McCoy and numerous other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home. Services for are scheduled for 2:00p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 also at Moore Funeral Home 1219 N Davis Dr, Arlington, TX 76012, with Dr. Mike Milburn officiating. Pallbearers are Cecil Bailey, Clarence Hawkins, Gary Williford, Mike Mauldin, Nicholas Colón and Walter Hutton. Burial will be in Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Arlington.
