Matthew Wayne Ekis passed away June 3, 2021, with his life verse on his heart and embedded in his soul: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Matthew’s faith, compassion for his fellow man, and devotion to serving others were the hallmarks of his life.
Born in Ft. Worth December 21, 1968, Matthew was a longtime resident of Arlington, Texas. He is survived by his parents Linda Rimer and Tom Ekis and wife Dee Ann H-Ekis; sisters Tymberlee Ekis of Indonesia, Amanda Howland and husband Adam of San Antonio, and brother Joshua Ekis and wife Katie of San Antonio; nieces and nephews Avery, Aiden, Asher, and Ainsley Howland; aunts and uncles Nancy and Jerry Will; Gene and Marsha Rimer; many friends and one very special friend, his beloved Akita, Gracie.
Matthew attended Tarrant County Junior College, receiving an associate degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. With expertise in various types of mechanics, Matthew specialized in automotive and home repair. A self-made businessman, he owned and operated Matt’s Mobile Repair Service for many years. No task exceeded his ability, from restoring houses to repairing appliances to refurbishing car engines. He was known in his community for his generosity of spirit: a friend, neighbor, or customer’s inability to pay did not stop Matthew from gladly doing the work. His love for others was the capstone to the way he lived his life.
A memorial service for Matthew Ekis will be held Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
