Nancy Ann Maxwell

Born April 1, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, Nancy graduated from Dearborn High School, and then attended Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology. While at Michigan State, she proudly served as President of her sorority Alpha Chi Omega. After college, she moved to Dallas to begin her professional career, and she had a successful career in marketing for more than 30 years.

In 1991, she met her loving husband, Steve Maxwell. They were married on February 6, 1993. Nancy's pride and joy was her son, Christopher James Maxwell, who was born on October 10, 1997.

Passionate about the creative arts, dancing, painting, and music, you could always find Nancy involved in one of her many hobbies and talents.

Nancy loved hosting and making holidays special. You could always find her baking treats, listening to music, and laughing. Whether it was "Christmas in July" or the Christmas season, you could guarantee she was watching one of her favorite movies, Elf.

Nothing was ever a "walk in the park" with Nancy. She lived every single day to the fullest. Nancy loved staying active, whether through her morning exercise, dancing for fun, or rehearsing for her dance recitals. She was an avid sports enthusiast, a longtime Dallas Mavericks season ticket holder, and would happily play the Michigan State fight song after a Spartan victory or even a loss. She often mentioned turning the living room into a sports bar.

Nancy also had a love for the Texas Ballet Theater. As a season ticket holder for more than 30 years, she attended performances with her good friends, Traci and Kathy. She was also a wine connoisseur who enjoyed being a part of her wine club, attending wine tastings, and traveling the world to experience different wines. While wine was her favorite, she also enjoyed a good cold IPA. Nancy was fortunate to visit many states and countries through her love of travel. On the Maxwell family refrigerator, you can find a magnet from each place visited.

Nancy had a love for dogs and cherished the pets she had throughout the years: Kitty, Brandy, Princess, and Maggie. She would always say she was a dog in a past life. Nancy also had a green thumb. Throughout her yard and garden, she grew a variety of plants, flowers, and fresh herbs.

She enjoyed traveling back home to Michigan and Arizona to visit her sister and her family. She had a very special connection with her nieces. When in Michigan, she loved visiting the MSU campus and, of course, attending sporting events.

Nancy generously supported causes that were meaningful to her, including the American Heart Association, Michigan State University, Texas Ballet Theater, and Galveston Central Church.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Steve Maxwell; her son, Chris Maxwell, and wife, Maggie; her sister, Michele Bacon, and husband, Paul; her nieces, Nicole Sparks and husband, Ray; Leslie Aneed and husband, Brian; Heather Chislom and husband, Alex; her stepbrothers, Ken Demmons and Doug Demmons; her sister-in-law, Cynthia Maxwell; her brother-in-law, David Maxwell, and wife, Missy; her nieces, Caitlin and husband, Maxwell; Erin; and nephew, Cooper; niece Tiffany Maxwell and nephew Charlie Maxwell; and many great nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, James Hagener; her mother, Theresa Demmons; and her stepfather, Bill Demmons.

Nancy's visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. After the service, the celebration of her life will continue at her home in Grapevine. The address will be provided at the service.
