December 5, 2018 in Arlington, Texas. Visitation of family and friends will be held following the memorial.
Nelson was born March 13, 1942, to Kathryne Chennault and Charleton G. Parker. He attended Arlington High School and was President of the class of 1960. He attended Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, TX and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was involved in several businesses in Arlington including real estate, insurance and hardware/electrical merchandising. He actively participated and supported the Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 438, Lions Club, Elks Lodge, FFA and various other youth organizations.
He retired to enjoy country life and work with his cows and horses on his ranch in Perrin, TX. He was an active member of Perrin United Methodist Church, Joplin Masonic Lodge No. 929, and a Past Master of Perrin Masonic Lodge No. 1082. He was always ready to lend a helping hand in any community activity and served on the Board of the Perrin Crime Watch.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Katheryne and Charleton Parker and his brother, E. Gailen Parker. He is survived by his sister-in-law Debra Parker in Frisco, TX, nephews Adam Parker in Pensacola, FL and Timothy Parker in Denton, TX, great-nephew Aaron Burch Parker and several cousins of both the Parker and Chennault families. As well, he will be greatly missed by his beloved AHS Class of 1960, who continue to support each other and their alma mater regularly.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the Masonic Children’s Hospital.
