Oscar Trevino, 82, of Arlington, joined his wife and parents in heaven Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. He died at the home he had so lovingly created for their three children. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthews Catholic Church, Arlington. Father Phil Petta will celebrate the Funeral Mass. Interment: 1:30 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home, with rosary at 6 p.m. Mr. Trevino was a proud Army veteran having served his country in Korea as a sergeant first class and platoon sergeant in the 45th Infantry. He was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Orange Grove to Mauro and Manuela Trevino. He attended schools in Orange Grove, Freer and Alice. Oscar was a carpenter by profession, a skill he learned from his father. He toiled long and hard but never lost his good humor, fascination with meeting new people and his unshakeable faith in God. He instilled strong family values, a sense of purpose and a strong work ethic in his children, grandchildren and extended family. He enjoyed good home cooking, especially by his wife of 51 years, Gloria, or any dessert whipped up by one of his "beautiful" daughters or granddaughters. Oscar loved the feel of sawdust in his hands and the smell of fresh-cut lumber, building many items of his own design for his family and friends. Oscar will be missed by his many friends from the veterans' groups, church, senior citizen centers, Boy Scouts and associates of his family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents, Mauro and Manuela Trevino; and other family members. Survivors: Daughter, Norma Trevino Latham of Marshall; son, Robert Louis Trevino of Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Trevino Elliott and Norman of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Adam Latham of Longview, Betony Latham of Fort Worth, Enoch, currently serving in the armed forces in Seoul, Korea, Molly Latham of Austin, Marissa Dally and grandson-in-law, Taylor, Johnny Elliott, currently in National Guard Reserve, of Fort Worth; Alyssa Trevino and Robert L. "RJ" Trevino Jr. of Saginaw; sisters, Nena Forrester, Jovita Saenz, Amelia Palacios and Christina Baxter (Fred); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
