As a young girl, her family moved to Farmer’s Branch, Texas. She went to High School in
Carrollton, Texas. Pat graduated from Oklahoma Christian College with a Bachelors Degree.
She married Glenn Surles on August 23, 1968. She was a teacher at Dallas Christian High
School until she had her first child. She was a full-time mom and homemaker for many years.
She was always very involved with the Church. She would teach Bible classes for kids. She
spoke at numerous Ladies Days and Lectureships throughout her adult life. Later, she got a
Masters Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and became Elementary Certified.
She worked in the Arlington Independent School District and taught at Johns and Lyn Hale
Elementary Schools. She was very generous to everyone with her money, her time, and her
energy. She was a mentor, a good listener, and a patient and gentle counselor. She would
always make time to hear about anyone’s problems and do whatever she could to help. She
was a godly woman who lived for the Lord and not for herself.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her brother, John Cross. She is survived by her sister, Lyn Muller and husband Alex of Burleson, Texas, son, Greg Surles and wife Denise of Weatherford, Texas, son, Garrett Surles and wife Melissa of Southaven, Mississippi, grandson, Greg Surles II and wife
Jamie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, granddaughter, Jessica Betz and husband Scout of
Lufkin, Texas, granddaughters, Hannah and Payton Surles of Weatherford, Texas, greatgranddaughters
Nora Surles and Stella Betz along with cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services. A visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012 on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 10 AM followed by interment at Moore Memorial Gardens.
